Considering switching up frames, but don't want to give up my dropper. I'd be moving 30.9 -> 31.6.

I was thinking of using a shim, but wanted to get some opinions. It would be on a Transition, so overbuilt alloy.

Can't speak for everyone, but I've never had a problem with using seatpost shims. One of my bikes has had a beer can shim in it for well over a year now with no problems.

I’ve been using a 31.6-30.9 shim for nearly 4 years, with a Reverb, and no problems here either.

Apologies if this is obvious but: make sure the shim covers the full area where post contacts the inside of seat tube. Leverage is a bitch.

Agreed. I bought a shim once for 27.2 to 30.9 and it was quite a bit shorter than my minimum insertion (wtf?). Its okay I was using it on a rental from the store I bought the shim from in the Yukon.

I'm using a 30.9 to 31.6mm. Its work fine, if you are not moving your seatpost up and down. I only have a 4" KS E10 on this bike, and I sometimes slam my post for an extra 2 inches. The shim likes to stick to my post instead of the frame.
