In New Zealand all the wheels they sell have internal widths of 19-24mm ... ! And they cost US1500!

Anyway, any recommendations for rims with 30-35mm internal width? WTB ixx is ok i think? Any other recommendations? I think to ship from overseas I have to buy just a rim unbuilt.

Thanks. Question - do heavier wheels last/stay true longer?

Depends on how well they are built. Typically a heavier wheel-set is 'tougher' at the same pricepoint as a lighter one. If it more heavy duty, that would suggest that it will stay in one piece longer. However, if it is built badly then weight is not a factor. Regardless, buy a spoke key and know how to use it to keep your wheels tight and true. Salute

Velocity Blunt P-35's might be worth looking into. I just had set built with some Industry 9 hubs.

Ok thanks. Velocity Blunt better than Easton Arc?
I'm a bit lost on what I need to build a reliable set of wheels (I'll get LBS to build) hence doing research into that first.

why so wide? 30mm would be the max I would run with 2.35-2.4 tires.

I'm looking for rims now. Pretty much any aluminum is in budget, but even low end carbon is out of budget. Leaning toward stans arch MK3. Would a 3mm drop on internal width be noticeable running 2.3 tires?

Hey mate dont know why i didnt see your post, im running Easton Arch 30, Internal 30mm, external 34mm, running 2.3 front and back and are mint! think they are fine for 2.3, and the wheel builder i used in NZ said they will be perfect, from there can always go bigger if need be, im running Minion DHF on front and Aggressor on rear, is mean!

I trashed a pair of 26" Blunt35's in a season. Rear ended up with a big dent and when I went to tear it down a found cracks all over around half the spoke holes. I bent the rim back but it was really easy to bend back and decided to not push my luck. I also had mine lace to I9 hubs with DT comps and alloy nips. Nice wheelset I was surprised to see the cracks, dents happen though.
