Alrighty, I'm building up the greatest Downhill bike ever. I have a M6 frame on order... I want this bike to be light. I have pretty much eveything bought for it except for cranks and a headset. I am currently looking at the Hope headset and Gravity Lite crankset.

Anything lighter? even other parts, let me know what you think is the lightest and strongest

Answer pro taper carbon bars
ODI Rogue Grips
Boxxer WC with E13 stem
Juicy Ultimate brakes
Chris King Ti Headset
DT Swiss EX1750 wheelset
E13 LG1
E13 Chain Ring
Truvativ Isis with Middleburn RS7 cranks
Wellgo MG-1
Thomson Masterpiece post
SLR Seat
Sram X.0 drivetrain with matchmaker and Short cage
KMC 9XSL chain
Shimano Dura Ace Cassette
Ti Spring
Maxxis Minion 2.35 with stans sealant

Sorry read your post too quickly and went a little overboard. FSA G-Lites are great, haven't tried mine yet but they look cool and are a half pound lighter than Holzfellers.

tubless tires could cut down a pound or 2

I did say tubeless, but tubeless tires themselves are a little heavy, so run normal tires with sealant.

I agree with Wilson on most of the parts.

I believe that Sunline V1 Boxxer Stem is lighter at 144g.

I like the Holzfeller OCT crankset, indestructable.

If you are a heavy guy you might want to go with Industry Nine's DH wheelset at 2150g.

If you are a true weight watcher then go with ODI standard grips as they are some grams lighter.

You can also go with Sram's PC-991 Hollow Pin chain with PG-970 low tooth cassette.

Oh, and don't forget the Ti bolts for rotors, seat rail clamps, stem etc.

The Sram chain is 279 and cassette is 170

KMC chain is 255 and Dura Ace is 143

Your right on the stem couldn't for the life of me remember the name.

Oh and what about some Formula brakes. Expensive but light and strong.

I did not know that about the KMC and cassette.

I have the V1 on my Boxxer and it is killer.

Never knew of KMC either until this year and they're gold. It's my bikes bling. They use a hollow pin system as well, and the links have bits out of them. Shimano Dura Ace, it's the top of the line Shimano road cassette. Thankfully offered in 9-speed.

funny enough the normal version is lighter than the ust, even though it has a steel bead... i know, it confused me when i was ordering mine... a normal ck headset is also a few grams lighter than the ti version, which again is pretty weird...

you get into little things, like a 6" rotor in the rear, 7" front, those new sram doubletap shifters (meant for flatbar roadbikes, but they are light Wink you could also try and find a set of boxxcart innards for a boxxer wc, lighter and better, and ti-bolts all around

my only other addition may be to lace up a set of mavic 721 hoops to your hub of choice with dt champion spokes, i did with a set of hope proII hubs and cut nearly 3 lbs off my old wheels which werent anything heavy to begin with (spinergy fall line)

^^^^ When my lbs showed them to me I thought crap there goes $200, as the Sram Hollow Pins are a million bucks themselves. But, $74 later I was the proud owner of a pimp chain.
