20+ stone man what's the best mountain bike to get

Hi I haven't rode a mountain bike since I was 17 I'm now 28 hgv drive so I'm always sitting down and doing very little manual work.
I'm 20/23 stone in weight now and I loved riding and am looking at it to help me to lose weight and also so I can take my kids out.
My big problem is my weight I brought a carrera vengeance and it didn't feel safe after 5 times I rode it so gave it to my oldest son.
So really need help to get the right bike I'm looking at buying it the end of may and have £500 to spend on one.

Call into your LBS so at least that way you can have the bike under a convient warranty if stuff breaks. I'd also probably go for a full suspension if you can
