I doubt that you'll find that. Kinda mixing epochs. 36 hole has been off the radar for a few years and 27.5 is (mostly) a new thing. If all else fails, you can lace a 32 hole rim to a 36 hole hub if you skip two holes on each side of the hub. I've seen it done and it looks a little funny but it works. You lace the hub with 8 spokes, then skip a hole, then do the next 8, leaving one more hole. On the opposite side you do the same thing, but 90 degrees out of phase with the skipped holes on the first flange. Everything winds up symmetrical in the end if you do it that way.

...or you can ditch the 36 hole hub and get up to date with current technologies. My boss weighs well over 250lb and he rides 28 spoke wheels. 36 spoke ain't coming back, it's finished. Modern rim designs and materials just don't require that many spokes to be reliable anymore so manufacturers aren't that interested in 36 hole drilling.

Best of luck!

I have thought of going for a 32h rim, just hesitant.
i would upgrade the hub but, i have a perfectly good 36h hub i got on a ripper deal so i dont like throwing it away and spending $200+ on a new hub replacing something thats not broken.

I'm in the same predicament. But only because I want a 27.5+ coaster bike. Haven't been able to find more than 30mm id, and I think 35mm is recommended for 3.0". I like 2.8, however don't think it'll work as well with bike I have in mind.

You can buy Halo SAS 27.5 with 36h directly from their website, also i just laced Mach1 MAD but in 32h version, there is also 36h version avaliable, both rims are DH/FR rated and very very good, similar to Mavic EX, but Mach1 are 25id, and Halo are 30id, Mach1 are around 25€ and are pin joint, but Halos are welded joint bjt cost around 60€ per rim...cheers

Oh and yes...Halo SAS are indestructable, literally

I have a Mavic ex630 with 36 spokes on my hardtail, 30 mm inner width.

Pretty good rim for me, I weigh nearly 100 kg with all my riding equipment. After a year of am/enduro/trail/bikepark riding the rims still are in good condition, wheels have stayed pretty true and there are no dents.

What tyres do you run? Did you have any trouble getting them on? I just had to give up on a mavic ex 830 because i could not get any tyres on it. Nor could my mechanic friend and he tried 6 different tyres.

Has anyone tried the halo sas 36 hole rim? I'm thinking about trying one. I'm not sure if I can get mach 1 rims in the UK. I'm a bit wary to try mavic ex630 as I had a nightmare with the ex830 to get any tyres on it and they look the same shape.

The rim is indeed pretty tight. I have used various different tyres from WTB, maxxis, schwalbe and michelin, all of them have been tight to get on. The first time I installed a tyre it took almost 20 minutes but since then I have gotten pretty good at it. It also helps to have tyre levers that have alloy or steel core, I have broke many fully plastic ones.

Guys im a big guy like 24 stone big built and not just down to overweight, I had some deemaxes 36 hole on Hope graphite hubs some years ago and unfortunately ran out of money and sold the bike (Norco Team DH), I then went to an Orange Patriot some years later and now have got an intense M9 the only one in England in this color with some brand new Hope V4s (2019) which are unused, I have been looking for Deemax rims or wheels for ages, so much so I contacted them in France and the reply I got back really Pi$$ed me off!

Mavic seem to think that every biker is average and 13 stone! so they have pulled the plug on anything more than 32 hole and now I have just found have gone even further down to 28 spokes, Eventually this will go down to a single spoke just to save about the weight of a pack of cigs...

Seriously mavic have really made a bad move there and outcast people who want the stronger wheelset over weight savings...

I am lost as to what to go for now?
