Wondering if it would be good to bring vitamins (Potassium, etc.) to replenish the electrolytes lost while riding instead of using energy or granola bars. Theoretically it should work as long as it is taken some time beforehand and with some solid food but I'm not sure. Has anyone tried this?

i often take these before or after a ride or during if its a big day. they don't have any energy and there's the caffeinated option ( about the same as a coffee or 250ml redbull). you dissolve them in your water bottle

when exercising continuously for a prolonged time your body isn't really in the mood to digest complex foods. these, they assure us, are formulated for extreme performance conditions

i also put them to work when hung over Beer

You're not going to get much/any energy from consuming a vitamin drink. Bring a well made bar with you that's packed with easily digestible energy and real the vitamin benefits as a bonus
