Wondering if it would be good to bring vitamins (Potassium, etc.) to replenish the electrolytes lost while riding instead of using energy or granola bars. Theoretically it should work as long as it is taken some time beforehand and with some solid food but I'm not sure. Has anyone tried this?

when exercising continuously for a prolonged time your body isn't really in the mood to digest complex foods. these, they assure us, are formulated for extreme performance conditions
You're not going to get much/any energy from consuming a vitamin drink. Bring a well made bar with you that's packed with easily digestible energy and real the vitamin benefits as a bonus
