hi guys, just bought a bronson 2 frameset.

building it with a fox 36 170mm that i will lower to either 150 or 160mm of travel.
the bronson 2 is calculated at an axle to crown that would be a fox 36 at a travel of 155mm,

so the question is 150 or 160?

+5mm C-A measurement would slacken the HA by what, 1/4 of a degree? I wouldn't worry too much about it.

On a similar note, I'm planning on running a 160 Lyrik on my Bronson 2. C-A will come out at 552mm (vs 542mm with a Pike 150). This'll take me slacker by 1/2 a degree.

Let's wait and see if anyone has any experience with these, though.

i think i will go with 150mm at first.
it will be my trail bike.
but maybe i will have to try 160 sometime also.

What'd you end up doing?

The Lyrik 160 has been good on the bike. I'm getting a Fox 36 150mm though just to try something new. If I don't like it I'll raise it back up to 160.

Did you ever get the 150? I'm curious. I currently have a 150 Pike and deciding whether to leave as is or upgrade.

Thanks

I run a Fox 36 at 160 on my B2. I ran a Manitou Mattoc at 160 on my previous B1. They just feel right with 160, Especially the B2.

Although I never tried 150 on either of them. ???? So there's that.

I purchased a Bronson V2 frame in April 17 and borrowed a friends 150 RS revelation while I was saving up for a new 36 which I finally purchased in September 17. I put in 5 months on the 150 revelation and 5 months on the 160 36 and honestly it's hard to compare these two forks since the revelation feels like a couple of wet noodles holding your front wheel compared to the 36. Stiffness aside, the feel of riding 150 to 160 is negligible (rode Mr. Toads wild ride twice on both setups). The most notable difference was the disappearance of pedal strikes once switching to the 160 because it raises your bottom bracket. I knew it would improve my descending but had no idea it would improve my climbing like it did.
If I were you I would leave your fork at 170 and switch to 160 after a few months of riding.

Currently have 160mm on my B2. Surprisingly not a fan, and would prefer it back at 150.

150 here and it is perfect for me climbing and descending.

I’m running pike 160 dual air on mine so I feel I’ve the best of both worlds

I am thinking 140mm and 29” wheel! Currently on 27.5” 160mm but 150mm I ve had on before would be just fine. Interested in 29” in the front though and I think 140mm form would be the right match.
