I notice quite alot of chainslap or general noise on my Scout when going through technical stuff. Things like riding down stairs really makes it very apparent.
In the recent review of the patrol carbon here on pinkbike, this issue is mentioned.

Does anyone know of a fix for this noise? I run Sram XX1 rear derailer, quite firm chain, no chainguide.
Would a chainguide fix it? Any other ideas?

I put 1/8" thin foam sheet, cut to size on my chainstay to help deaden any noise. In addition, I used zip ties on the cables entering the frame on the down tube, then pushed one end of the cables into to frame to help wedge the cables inside the frame to prevent rattling. Seems to work for me. My bike makes virtually no noise on the trails.
