Just trying to get info from people who own/ed carbine 26ers! I called intense and they specified that you are able to install a 27.5 wheelset on a carbine.? Is that true?

I've read the same, it's a matter of changing dropouts I believe. I own a first generation Carbine, but I run it with 650B wheels.
I own and ride a 2013 Carbine that shipped as a 26" bike. Not long after the frame's release, Intense made drop-outs that moved the axle position to accommodate 27.5" wheels. This was one of the first really good 27.5" trail bikes.
If you can find the dropouts, you should give it a go. It sounds like you have a 27.5" wheel set, but you'll really need to change the fork too. I rode my 26" fork for about a month with a 27.5" wheel and Maxxis Ardent on. A leeettle bit scary. Not much room under the fork brace for the larger wheel and tire. It rolled but there were some pretty serious clearance issues.
I changed it out for a 27.5" Pike and it's been a very fun bike to ride. Quite a difference between the 26" version and the 27.5".
