Hi guys I have a brand new 2016 fox 40 coil fit4 forks is it possible to convert them to air/float and if so is it just a case of getting the air spring assembly? Cheers
It is possible - I did it to mine. As of last fall when I did the conversion there was no kit - you simply need to order the correct replacement parts. Here's what I ordered:
Also, you may want to order volume spacers while you're at it. The total cost, including labor to have my LBS install the parts was about $200.
One last thing to keep in mind is that the piston of the air-spring will be sliding along the inside walls of your stanchion. Your coil spring has been rattling against those same walls since you bought the fork. If the walls are scratched, you'll also need to order a new stanchion. I put about 5 days on mine before converting and that did not damage the interior of the stanchion.
Im thinking to convert my unused Fox 40 2017 Elite. Instructions seems pretty straightforward. But do I need all the Fox's required tools - of course it would help in the process. Any tips for custom DIY tools?
