like the title says someone has started damaging my trail, i have been working on it for a year now and some days ago i found everything damaged. Do you guys have any advice on how i can prevent my trail from getting sabotaged?!?!
info about the trail i always keep it clean and maintained and i have seen people riding it so i don't think they have something against me building in the area. I have only heard good things, no complaints so far.
this is the first time someone has damaged my trail so far how can i prevent future sabotage? any good signs you recommend? how can i get them to respect my trail?
what do you mean? like if i have permission to build there, nope i dont, you cant get any kind of permission on those area cuz the states gives no f*ck about bikers so i decided to build something fun for all mtbers so i cant really do anything against people sabotaging it :/ you have any good idea on how i can make these idiots respect my trail? btw you Danny hart haha?
Well if your building trails in private property there's not much you can do, but if it's in a public recreation forest I'd recommend hiding the entrances and exits of your trails so people won't find it. That's what we do to keep away foresters and horse riders. Also you might consider making signs that say "mountain bike trail- CCTV cameras in operation". No cameras necessary, just a sign to scare them off.
its a public recreation forest i think, well its really open so its hard to hide it but its on a place where many mtber are so i find it hard to think one of them destroyed it, maybe some stupid locals but hopefully it was some kids, yea i have thought about that too! will do it, lets just hope they dont destroy it again!
On public trails, I'd definitely recommend always having an "option b" line in case you have any fun features since usually the people who destroy trails are just doing it because they don't have the skills required to ride a feature.

yea i thought about that too before building so my two lines have b options so i dont know why they sabotaged my trail.
Basically some people are a*sholes and get great pleasure of destroying things they know some one loves and cares about. Don't use logs while building, and if you do bury them deep so they cant be pulled out easily, try to build some where far enough from any fire roads or footpaths that the chances of finding it are slim, don't leave great big digging pits open all over the place, this pisses people off, looks like shit and is plain dangerous, avoid cutting trees this will piss people off and most likely shows a lack planning in line choice and a disregard for the surroundings.
Yea i know i basically only use dirt to have a good looking and strong jump and i dont leave holes my trail looks really nice, clean and sick when nobody destroys it! now lately i havent seen anything destroyed so lets hope they stopped!
Once the trail ' naturalizes ' a bit you will notice it bothers people less. When a trail 1st goes down it can look like a mess even with tidy work practice, once the plants and loam take back the bits that were used for access/clearing and are no longer used the trail starts to blend in really nicely and actually add some thing positive visually to the scene, at least from a bikers perspective anyway haha
Haha yea i know what you mean! my trail looks really nice after i maintain it! would really appreciate it if you could check out my Youtube channel, this is a video when i ride the trail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZHqLQSYvUo i have the video on my pinkbike channel too its named Mtb Fall Edit | Freeride. im the rider with´red/white fox pants, let me know what ya think!
Looks great mate, really good looking dirt, nice gradient, flowy!
The 1st bit of the vid where you are riding in the clearing for the telegraph poles reminds me of trail of mine that follows part of a telegraph clearing.
Thanks mate means alot! nice you have any video of your trail? the funny thing is that me and my friend rides a scott voltage fr and my trail is under voltage poles thats has a sign saying high voltage haha so much voltage xD btw Iam currently building all the features in my trail much bigger to be able to do some tricks and bigger whips so by the end of next week im going to upload a new Edit i let ya know when its up!
