Geometry and specs aside, what is the sweet-spot of travel for a bike that can do trail riding, and more mellow (jumps and rock gardens but not insane-freeride features) park stuff? I was thinking 150mm but I'm really not sure.

based on no data at all, i would say between 150-170. 150 being a higher quality damping set up and 170 being more budget minded damping.

total crap? you be the judge Salute

150/160 seem to be the best all around bike. Not too downhill oriented but still really capable.

It really is going to depend on the bike though.

I like my reign with 170mm front and back, on 26" wheels mind you. I use it everywhere and on everything; i like my suspension plush!
