On the topic of linkage suspension...a take off of girvin, but better imo: Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://patineto.smugmug.com/Bicycles/Components-and-parts/Linkagemultipivot-suspension/DSCN0381/251028091_af4b2-L.jpg Also, I would love one of these for my 29er build: Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.german-a.de/en/bilder/kilo_490px.jpgUnsecure image, only https images allowed: http://twentynineinches.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/5_GERMAN-A-KILO.jpg
AMP RESEARCH was the pioneers of the compact linkage fork. they were also the employers of Horste Leitner when he created the famed Horste-Link, which the pattent is now owned by Specialized...
There is a pile of those amp research ones in the shop I work at (head mechanic used to race them, said they needed to be rebuilt every week) like this: Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://mombat.org/AmpFork.JPG
they are designed so that when you apply your front brake.... the fork doesnt compress, but im wrong, they arnt anti dive forks. lol.
big tourer motorbikes have anti dive built into them via valves in the front brake callipers to pre load the damping fluid in the forks, hence stopping them compress as much.

surely dive would be more of a problem on performance bikes (MX and GP)?

Girvin forks were anti dive i think.
