Picked up a '20 Demo Expert a few weeks back and spent all weekend this past weekend riding the park at Snowshoe on it.

I am in love. After dialing in the suspension, just wow.

The mullet setup is absolutely amazing and this thing feels like a totally different experience coming off my bottom spec Scott Gambler.

Incredible bike, now I need to level up so I can do it some actual justice.

My wife is thrilled to inherit the Gambler, so double win.

I agree, amazing bike. I have owned 3 iterations of the Demo, and this one is by far the best.
Specialized finally made a true DH bike! It is an absolute monster.

Here is why;

The previous demo is more as park bike rather than a true DH race machine imo.

Yes this is why i don't need the latest demo,i'm not a DH racer but more of a park rat.

Have not tried the new set-up. I do know my previous production demo does pretty damn good in the parks. I have been experimenting with front and rear shock set-ups while doing park laps.Just curious; what are you guys running with rear shocks for park? coil or air? For 2017 era demo 8

Smile all depends what you are looking for in a bike ? some prefer suspension that will hold them up and only move on impacts. some like plush and linear travel..

That said, what annoys me is that the newer model of most frame designs seem to have differences between the carbon and alloy linkage etc

My alloy sender has the regular mx link, but the carbon version has that latest demo style link which probably gives more leverage and makes the bike feel more plush with the same coil. Really Mad

The linear and progressive arguement has been done to death. But suspension by design is severly limited. If you set them up for the typical 30% sag, you are basically eating into your travel when standing and pedalling (pedal strikes etc). Also you are more likely to bottom out more often which is not good for the coil or comfort when going off drops.

So the solution always seems to be.. Well get a firmer spring or increase the pressure... Well then you lose all that plushness you kinda really wanted.. Beer So then most people think.. AH !! i'll go to air shocks, well now your dealing with friction and temparatures.. high low compression/rebound.. And that's completely dependent on how you ride, Where you ride, how much you weigh, hell sometimes ya bike just feel's crap some day's even when everything is set up correctly. lol

What are the shock hardware dimensions on the previous demo? 8 x 22 or 8 x 22.2

is the alloy different than carbon? Carbon frame is 21.84, 22.2 does NOT fit. Good luck.

Exactly! I have the 2016 Carbon Demo and ordered the 22.2mm Huber bushings and they fit perfectly. Both with the normal link and with the progressive link.

You should check your shock mount if your measurement is different.

I have 2017 S-Works.

Just last week I installed 2022 Fox X2
With the above mentioned. 21.84

So maybe he should measure his frame?
