I had beefy tires on my Ranger last winter, I couldn't even put a mudguard on the fork because of them, and I got away with that... if you don't meet to much clay in your way you'll survive...

I really think a mud guard is key in saving your stanchions when riding in the muck and snow and wet gravel. Which just got home from doing.

Yeah me too... i never thought they would be good for anything until i had a night ride a couple years ago, in the rain and mud. I forgot my clear glasses... made it out with very little mud in the eyes and immediately noticed how easily the rocks were shot through due to the slick plastic slide.
