I own a 2015 Kodiak 1 which I upgraded with at least the same components as a 2. SLX 1x drivetrain, XC32 fork, Deore Crankset, KS Lev dropper, etc....
It's my first full suspension bike so I don't have much to compare it to, but I love it. I ride in the northeast which is pretty rocky and rooty, and it has handled everything well here. The bike shop I bought it from told me the frame design is very similar to the santa cruz bantam. I've heard and read that the single pivot suspension isn't great for climbing, but haven't noticed the pedal bob typically associated with the single pivot design.
The only other bike I've ridden was in Bend, OR last summer when I rented a Yeti SB5 and it was a much bigger, slacker bike, which soaked up a lot more on the downhills but the terrain out there was also very different from the northeast so it's tough to really compare.
I think for the money, the Kodiak 2 is one of the best deals out there for an entry level FS bike. I'm also interested in what others think of it too.
I actually stumbled across the 2017 Kodiak 27.5+ today. I've been looking to add a 27.5+ AM HT to my line up, but might have to look into these a bit more. Anyone else out there with some experience on these bikes?
