Looking for hardtail for local trails in Canada, nothing too extreme. Came upon this bike, comes out to around $1000us shipped. Can I get anything better than this for this price ?
IMO that's a decent bike for the money. I just bought Rockhopper last year with a very similar build to this. 2x9, Tektro hydraulic brakes etc. For that money I don't think you'll get anything better unless you buy used. I'm also in Canada, Alberta to be exact, and unless you're heading to whistler, or Fernie, this bike will serve you well to start. But beware, when you do catch that MTB bug, you'll soon be looking for a full suspension steed. Lol.
Would ordering it from Commencalcanada.com save you any delivery fees? Get this one. http://www.commencalcanada.com/Mobile/meta-ht-am-essential-rockshox-650b-yellow-2016-c2x19538186
Last year's model, but comes with a dropper and longer fork
Was looking at that one, it's All Mountain though, and extreme fork at 160mm. Would I really need so much travel for local trails ? I don't see myself descending from anything in the near future, nothing like this in my area as far as I know. I'm in Milton Ontario.
Yeah, I was looking at order that bike last year but thought the same thing about the fork. I'm in London Ontario. I wondered though if the fork could be swapped. They had another 2016 Am HT with 130 fork which I think wouldn't be to bad. The one you linked in still looks like a solid rig. No free shipping, but if you order from the states there may be some duty fees?
Haha I looked at the Rocky ridge bikes as well. I like it a bit better. Get the 7.6 if you can? Pretty sure Royal Distributing stocks them, so you can go see it before purchase. Another bike I looked at was this. It's a little more expensive than the others. However free shipping in Canada and I think a better spec. Sram 1x11 is a much better drive train that what the others offer Imo https://m.pinkbike.com/buysell/2054778/
Went out today and test drove Marin Rocky Ridge 7.2, it was meh, nothing special, felt boring. Then on way back home I stop by my LBS and they had Giant Stance 2 on display, took it for a spin, man was that fun I think I'll just start convincing wife right now that the budget need to open up more for full suspension
