So I'm really confused. Can any one clear this up for me?

Ibis says 27.5 and 27.5+ are so similar they can be run on the same bike. Whereas Santa Cruz (and much of the industry) says that 27.5+ and 29ers are compatible on the same frame.

Does this mean I can run standard 27.5 wheels/tires on my Santa Cruz Tallboy3??

Or is the Ibis geometry different...?

It really comes down to tire sizing.

27.5x3.0 is closer to a 29x2.3/2.35

27.5x2.8 is closer to 27.5x2.4/2.5

So it's the height that they're talking about more than the width.
So yes, you can run a 27.5 x 2.4/2.5 on your Tallboy 3, flip the chip to the 27.5 position, run the taller fork it's designed to run with the 27.5 rims and you will be very close to the same height as a 27.5x2.8.

Hope this helps?
