Dent in 2016 Giant Reign 2 downtube

I recently purchased this 2016 Giant Reign 2 Aluminum frame. A couple rides in and I was having so much fun that I took a spill and dented the downtube. Is this safe to ride? Do you think that is a collection of hairline fractures above the dent?

I wouldnt worry too much, keep an eye on it and watch for crack propagation in the paint..

The dent goes along the tube more than across it, I'd be a little more concerned if the dent ran across

However, do what makes you feel right about it

I think it would be wise to have your LBS to have them check it out. It could save you from a catastrophic failure and the potential for severe injury. Did you buy the bike new?

I bought it used. So unfortunately there is no longer the frame warranty.

I rode it today over rocks and jumps, and it held up fine, but I am still a tad worried.

Should I contact Giant? My LBS unfortunately is not the best.

Thanks.

With something like that I'd err on the side of caution. Even a minor fall at speed could be severe/fatal.

Send Giant an email and maybe a photo of the front end. I'd be surprised if they didn't offer you some kind of decent offer to replace the front end.

Thanks man. Yea I took it out again, it seems fine, but you never know, caution is best, but we put ourselves at risk in this sport anyway.

I will contact them man. Thanks for the advice.

Cheers!

That's a huge dent! Now I rode my glory for a few years after some small dents without trouble. But giant has a really good crashe replacement policy so find a better shop who deals giant to help you out. A couple hundred bucks for peace of mind is worth it!
