Hello everyone
I am coming to Penticton for the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championship in August
I understand that the trails are amazing and we will not regret showing up to experience BC mountain biking and racing in Canada representing Canada
I am from Ontario and in the process of changing mt 29er tires
I was told to inquire with the locals as to what types of tires to use before i invest on a new pair
I have Bontrager Race 2.3 front and back

Thanks for your assistance
Jean

We have a lot of sharp rock and it takes a toll on sidewalls and tread. Very common to have tears and large holes. Most common tires here are Maxxis High Roller, Minion DHF, and Minion DHR2. A softer tread compound will be best, Maxxis 3C or Super Tacky. It will be dry and dusty in August and you'll want something that grips the rock. You'll want something with a heavy casing (Maxxis EXO, DH, or similar) and if you are running tubeless make sure you have plugs. If you are running tubes, buy some tubes when you show up from one of the local shops. If you aren't used to this terrain, expect to use at least a tube per ride. I wish that was a joke!
