Website says max tire size 2.3"

- I'm just curious if anyone has tried a larger tire in the rear than what is recommended and what you've have used and ridden. I'm wanting to run either a 2.4" or 2.5"

Running a Minion DHF in the front and a WTB Breakout 2.5" in the rear on my Scout, pretty sure the site says 2.3" max for the Scout as well. Fits with no clearance issues whatsoever.

Here's another pic, looks close to the chain stay but it's not really.

Bontrager XR4 2.3 (true) feels very comfortable on the Smuggler. Nobby Nic 2.35 (also true 2.35 width, but taller) is a little too big, prompted me to try XR4. Not just 2.4 won't fit, but the clearance will be sub-optimal, especially if it's a tall tire. I would not go 2.5. This is on 27mm id rim.

What about a Minion DHR 2.4"? On a NOBL TR36 rim.

Asked the same questions somewhere else and got a reply saying Minion DHR II 2.4 works fine on the v1 and v2 smuggler.

2018 aluminium smuggler. Running dhr 2.4 wt no problem. I understand that the carbon frame has a little less room.

I have just sold on my 2016 Smuggler frame and when I broke it down I was pretty amazed to see the amount of wear on the rear U of the chain stay when I took everything off. I only ran a 2.3 Spaz' Slaughter on for the entire time on 30mm ID rims. I'm looking for a new frame and if I get one I would be hesitant to go burlier. Again, with all tyres a 2.4 on one tyre can come up way bigger than a 2.6 on another manufacturers tyre so it comes down to the exact rubber you're looking at throwing on there.

2018 alloy smuggler, XM 421 wheels I can get maxxis 2.5 with ok clearance, with XM 481 the same tire is uncomfortably close. run a 2.4 maxxis on the XM 481 with no issue
