wanted:
120-150mm travel
single crown
20mm axle
1.1/18 steerer
26''

why is it so hard to find this?! i can find 15mm/tapered/qr/etc but in this config its slim pickings as far as im aware!

20mm was quickly relegated to the extremes, like downhill forks. Tapered replaced 1 1/8".

26... I think will come back as 26+. 29s popped up. 27.5 split the difference. Fatbikes popped up. 26+ split the difference. People are trying 27.5+, and understand the current 27.5 frames they like will similarly clear 26+ the same. All this to realize that we only wanted good old 26", wider.

20mm cant weigh that much more than 15mm?

when it comes to tyre sizes, i just want em wider. nott fatbike wide but wider than the 2.35/2.5 i can get atm!

there is only 1 fork that i can use on CRC that fits all criteria- manitou circus 2017 expert. and even thats only 130mm :/

ffs bring back overbuilt stuff pls.

I agree, moving back to 15mm seemed silly after 20mm was just getting settled. Some of it's long-term trial-and-error and some of it is a marketing game, which, given tooling and engineering costs probably come as one in keeping the industry afloat.

It's like liberals vs conservatives in politics.

i mean have you broken any forks recently? or do you just like bolting extra weight on?

Lol... I've seen a video of a Marz DJ, with the 4-inch-deep crown, snapping from casing into the perfect top of a landing. That's about as extreme as you can get though.

OP - try looking for an older Fox 36, I had an '07 Van36R with 1-1/8" steerer and tooled 20mm axle and it was an amazing fork. People have posted online how to lower them.

Pick up an old RS Domain? 2012 or earlier and lower it from 180mm. Would fit the bill perfectly and I'm still using mine without complaint.

Sure it lacks all the adjustment of modern forks bar rebound, is coil sprung and a bit heavy, but it's f*cking bomb proof and plush.

I weigh 113kg and mostly point stuff downhill so don't really notice the weight of the fork tbh. I have also pedalled it over more than 20 miles around the hills so make of that what you will...... Not saying I wasn't shagged but I survived........

Fox still makes a 36 for 26", straight steer tube and can convert to 20mm axle.

Still new ones on eBay regularly.
