So I have just tried to add volume spacers to my vivid air.

It's way more.complicated than the monarch.

I opened up the air can, removed the inner air sleave. Added 5 of the red bands. Then pit it back together following the instructions.

I didn't open up the damper part, so I never drained the ifp chamber.

The problem is, when I put the shock back in the bike and cycle the shock gently with no air in it I hear/feel a grinding noise in the end of the stroke. In the last 2/3 cm.

It's really concerning. I took it apart again and made sure the inner sleave is seated properly, and then put it back together, but still makes the grinding noise.

Anyone got any idea?

hi there.

try this.
remove air. remove air can and the bands. install the shox to bike and cycle it slowly. might be some seals from internals grinding.
