I have a fox float performance dpx2 elite rear shock,i am running 140 on it i was wondering if i could put a coil on it instead of running air.

Unfortunately not. Coil shocks are completely different animals and you would need to replace the whole shock. If that "140" is the travel of the bike, I honestly would try to get my shock set up properly before considering replacement, as the DPX2 is a very good shock that is quite light compared to a full coil.

I absolutaly love it i was looking at going to whistler next year so i think i might just stiffen it up or something

DPX2 should be more than strong enough for Whistler. You can't really increase travel without messing with the geo of your frame and potentially causing damage. The air shock is probably better as it will have more bottom out resistance, as I'd imagine you may be using all of that 140mm at Whistler.
