Mountain Bike Recommendations Upgrade from Entry-Level

Hello all! I previously had a Diamondback Response which ended up getting stolen. Even with the lower bike, I still managed to ride trails well and have a good time. Since it was stolen, I'm looking to get a new Mountain Bike. Not sure if I want to invest 3k in one yet. But definitely looking to upgrade from the Entry-Level Dick's Sporting Good Bikes. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
