Your wallet won't be to happy after building a 31 lb downhill bike.

31 pounds would just be unsafe

it would be like 90 percent carbon fiber.

It can't really be unsafe. Racing downhill is unsafe to begin with. If his bike is light and the suspension is dialed it will be awesome.

As it stands it's 36.1 pounds. Before the summer a Boxxer WC should be going on (unless I wait for the 09' Dorado). If the Rock Shocks website is right for the weight of the fork I'm down to 34.8. If I could get that weight than I'd push for 34 even. That said, even now I'm worried about some parts. We'll see how the season goes.

A lighter bike shouldn't be noticibly harder to keep on the ground, thats mostly relates to your strength and skill as a rider.

true but its not like all the parts are xc or carbon fiber. ive just found the lightest downhill parts possible with no budget.

31 pounds would FOR SURE have at least one questionable part on it....

unless you hacve like 10 000 bucks to spend on a bike

I don't know what parts your putting on, here's mine, maybe you've addressed them.

The wheelset- light by the standards 2 years ago, there's lighter now, but mine dent.

Cranks- so any stories, should have gone with middleburn/fsa

Single Ply tires- wanted 2.35 minions, i was limited

DHX Air- still an unknown

Ultimate- has a carbon lever, hope it'll last

With the exception of the seat, rear brake and cassette it's all dh rated.
