Thinking about going to bend in late march. What is typically ridable in that time of year?

It is pretty diff year to year, week to week, should be very nice out east (Cline Butte, Horse Ridge etc). Pretty good chance Phils complex, River trail and most lower elevation stuff will be good but could easily be too wet. If ur lucky some of the upper stuff will be dry but dead fall will still be left from the winter (Tylers, Tiddlywinks, Upper Whoops). If it is clear the shoulder seasons r by far best time to ride here, not many people and great dust free dirt.

Just look at the weather forecast and Bendtrails.org for a updated status on trails as your trip gets closer. On the bright side it has been a pretty dry winter so far.

Late March is pretty early. I usually aim for mid/late May, hoping for the Wanoga trails to be opening up and clear of deadfall. You want to get on them when they're clear but still tacky and not blown out, which is usually before Memorial Day. That worked great in 2016, less well in 2017 when everything was still under 4ft of snow.

BendTrails is great for keeping an eye on things. People post the evening that a trail has been cleared, and you can plan the next day's ride.

might also be a bit chilly, all depends on the weather.
