I am currently running 3 " tyres on my hardtail and would like to try some slightly narrower options, potentially a 2.6 on the rear and a 2.8 on the front. Any suggestions? I ride mostly trail and xc with light dh now and then.

Ok, have just got a 2.6 Slaughter 2 Bliss for the rear and a Butcher Grid 2.8 for the front, I know overkill for xc riding but more air pressure and difference from my current 3" tyres should feel a bit snappier, will see when they arrive...

Hi Mero,

Sorry, I can't offer you any help, but...

I'm looking at getting a plus hardtail too and I'd be interested in your opinion on the different tyres you've got. Also what kind of bike you're running them on etc.

It's a minefield of information out there.

Cheers.

I can tell you that the wtb ranger is a wonderful dry tire and an equally horrible wet\mud tire.

Hi, yes thx for replies, bike is Fuse expert, I assume I will slightly slacken head angle by going from a 3" to a 2.6 out back, we shall see. I really like the bigger tyres just seems like 2.8 - 2.6 is the sweet spot for general trail riding.

Maxxis Rekon 2.8 front and rear. Winning.
