Oh boy oh boy kiddos! It's bike build time again! Out with the old (Spark Plus) and in with the new!

Going back to Santa Cruz this time around. My second 5010/Solo! I got the Solo when it first came out, back before they changed the name to the 5010 because of Rocky Mountain's cross/adventure bike. This time around I get to have a premium CC model with all the bells and whistles.

Here's the planned build list, with weights as close to accurate as I can get.

Frame: 5010 CC, large, 1995g
Shock: Monarch RT3, 215g
Fork: RockShox Pike RCT3, 1841g
Headset: Cane Creek 110, 100g (just guessing, can't find an accurate weight)
Stem: Enve MTN, 40mm, 85g
Handlebar: Enve MTN Riser, 760x23mm, 194g
Grips: Ergon GE-1, 90g
Front Brake: Shimano XTR M9000, 189g
Rear Brake: Shimano XTR M9000, 206g
Front Rotor: Shimano RT86, 180mm, 130g
Rear Rotor: Shimano RT86, 160mm, 112g
Shifter: SRAM XX1 trigger, 91g
Derailleur: SRAM X01, 252g
Cassette: SRAM XG-1195, 268g
Chain: KMC X11SL, gold, 240g
Chain Guide: E.13 TRS Race, 111g
Crankset: RaceFace Next R, 170mm, 419g
Chain Ring: Wolf Tooth Drop Stop, 30t, 58g
Bottom Bracket: RaceFace BSA 30mm, 87g
Pedals: DMR Vault Mag/Ti, 292g
Seatpost: KS LEV Ci, 175mm, 464g
Saddle: WTB Silverado Carbon, 169g
Front Tire: Maxxis Minion DHF, 2.3, 880g
Rear Tire: Maxxis Minion DHF, 2.3, 880g
Front Hub: Industry Nine Torch Classic, 162g
Rear Hub: Industry Nine Torch Classic, 281g
Spokes: DT Swiss Supercomp, 318g (64 ct)
Nipples: DT Swiss Squorx Alloy, 21.33g (64 ct)
Rims: Nextie Asym 27mm, 820g (2 ct)

Total weight in grams: 10970.33
Total weight in pounds: 24.16

Granted I've not taken cable/housing into consideration, but I've also not calculated for any weight saved from cutting the steer tube of the fork. It might even out. It might not. Time will tell.

Stay tuned if you're curious how it will all turn out. Or don't, I'm not your mom.

Slight change to the parts lineup will be RaceFace Next SL G4 crank arms instead of the Next R arms. Slightly lighter, and I know they can hold up under my riding style because I had them on my Hightower. Total weight should be about 24.05 lbs now.

Dang, that seems crazy light for a bike as capable as the 5010! Should be a ton of fun. One of my favorite looking bikes.

Changed the brakes to SRAM Level Ultimate and cranks to XX1 Eagle DUB. Not only are the Levels a little cheaper, but they're also a matching black/gold color scheme that works well with the overall look I'm going for. The Levels are for sure slightly heavier than the XTR Race, and the XX1 cranks are, in turn, a little heavier than the Next SL G4, but Raceface said the Nexts are pushed back to late May, and that's a little too long to wait for me.

SRAM Level Ultimate brakes, X01 cassette and derailleur, XX1 trigger shifter, YBN ti-nitride DLC chain, XX1 Eagle DUB crank.

Just interested but if you wanted something different why choose a SC ?

Surely you wanted to build onto something super special if you’re coming from a Spark and SC hightower and if you’ve got money to burn why not choose say an Alchemy or a RobotbCo ti/carbon frame?

Curious to know why SC, they’re not all that sorted and they seem far too common to be in a special build topic.

I certainly don't have money to burn. Just the money from selling my Spark.

I did a lot of research and the 5010 has all the right geometry for what I want in a bike.

Not sure what you mean by "not all that sorted" but I've got a long history with Santa Cruz (this will be my 13th SC) and a few personal friends work there so it was an obvious choice.

Got my fork, frame, valves, rim tape, and chain guide coming in the mail. Will replace the Fox with a Monarch and probably order the headset at the same time as soon as I have the frame in my hands.

New bike builds are always fun, curious why you swapped the chainring?

XX1 cranks came with a 32t ring, I wanted a 30t for the right gear ratio. Also the Wolf Tooth looks better and is a little lighter.

Gotcha, it does look better too. I also use the eagle drivetrain and have a 32t and a spare 30t. What wheels are you using?

Frame is in transit, should be here later this week.

Nextie i27 asymmetric rims with DT Squorx alloy nipples, Supercomp spokes, and I9 Torch Classic hubs.
