Obviously, I'm a bit new to this, but thoughts on the magura mt trail sport disc brakes? Would they be a sensible upgrade from sram level brake set?

Everyone I know who rides Maguras pairs the calipers with Shimano levers for better feel and more durability. Magura levers are made out of plastic and from what I've heard are prone to breaking.
Thanks, besides a dropper post I'm trying to upgrade one component on the tr 29 origin build since I originally wanted the ride build instead.

Is there a setup page for meta tr 29 origin? With the RS 35 gold rl and deluxe select?

I couldn’t find any setup material. You can use the rockshox “trailhead app” for the fork to get a base line. Set the sag at 27-30% on the rear shock and use the “curb method” to get a starting point on rebound.

Did you go back to the normal spring from the progressive one? I’m still tinkering with mine, the 500 gives me more grip but sags away a bit too much in corners and the 550 generally feels better on most trails with bigger hits and holds up better in corners but even with hsc fully open makes for a rough ride over roots, and I really don’t want to shell out the money for a 525 spring as I lost my student job recently thanks to someone eating bats. Also managed to get a really harsh bottom out on a huck to flat with the 550, so I’m not sure where to go.

I probably need to take 2 hours and just session the same section over and over to find the perfect setup but it’s just so boring.

But with the bikeparks opening here I found myself to be able to ride the bikes way more how it’s supposed to be ridden. My local trails are just way too short and flat.

Yeah I actually prefer the 500lb regular spring over the progressive one. For 95% of riding the 500lb gives enough support and grip. I never thought I would say this but the progressive is almost too much ramp up.

No bottom outs? I like how the bike feels with little compression damping, but then again I rarely take super big hits.

Hmmm it bottoms out when it’s worthy of one put it that way. Hardly a harsh feeling at all. This 2020 bottom out bumper much softer than previous versions of the dhx2 I’ve had.
