Trying to replace stem on my 2016 Giant Trance Advanced with a 50 mm stem, but Giant apparently is the only brand with a 1-1/4" diam steering tube clamp. They used to make a Contact SL AM in a 50 mm size but it is no longer available, and there is no way to directly contact Giant on their web site. Tried to contact local bike shops and distant ones. Even tried on eBay. Also contacted other manufacturers, nobody makes it any more. What are my options? Anyone else solve this problem?

Update: I realized that I had left on the shimm so thats why my new stem didn’t fit. All set once I removed shim. Thanks all!

Is the fork's steerer tube 1 1/4 or 1 1/8? I know the question seems daft but if your stem has a shim in it already your fork should be 1 1/8, and you will be free to pick the stem of your choosing. If there is no shim then it is 1 1/4 and you'll have to use Giant's parts or shim down an 1 1/2 stem.

Specs on that bike say it has the Overdrive steerer aka regular tapered fork. Any 1-1/8 stem should fit. Measure it before you buy anything, but a 2016 Trance shouldnt have a 1-1/4 steerer tube.

Specs say overdrive. Should be 1 1/8”
Overdrive2 is the 1 1/4”

2016 Giants should be on normal Overdrive already, no shortage of stems then :-) Best thing to do is remove stem and measure steerer tube to be sure before you buy it.
