I'm reviving my old XC bike and its good except the front fork deflects and slaps the rim off the brake pads. The fork is a 2000 Marz Z4 flylight air 80mm with qr9. What would be a stiff fork with V-brake posts, 1.125" steerer, and a better QR system? Weight isn't really an issue and I should probably stay at 100mm or less travel.
Thanks!
Here's a pic.

just go 15mm/disc up front with a fox/rs fork. even my 2014 SID wc would be stiffer than the old marz you have.
of course for the money you will spend you could go with a new bike also...
-the used market is pretty lean for 1 1/8 forks of any use.

Yeah, you are probably right, although there isn't a whole lot of xc bikes in my local used market with a qr15 fork for reasonable money either. I see the odd 1.125" steerer disc fork with a decent qr system come up so maybe I'll have to do that.
