The Vanier Park bicycle skills park is owned by the City of Vancouver and maintained by a dedicated group of locals.
October 1st was supposed to be the start date for Joyride Bike Parks pump track expansion at Vanier.
The City has hired a contractor (Joyride) and they are ready to start Monday (outside of the migratory bird nesting season). The project has been carefully planned to improve the forest: removing invasive species, planting native species, retaining ALL existing healthy trees, and avoiding migratory bird nesting season, etc.

A few local "eagle enthusiast" NIMBYs have caused yet another delay (this time may be the end) of the construction due to the "possibility" that the eagles may re-nest in the bike park.
The eagle nest fell down this summer naturally and has JUST been artificially rebuilt by the eagle enthusiasts in hopes of getting this pump track (and possibly the entire jump park) shut down by NIMBY-ism.

PLEASE email tiina.mack@vancouver.ca, malcolm.bromley@vancouver.ca, pbcommissioners@vancouver.ca and vancouverdirtjumps@gmail.com about why you think a pump track should be built. Even just a few sentences! We really need your help on this right away! Thanks!

We're committed to finding solutions to move this project forward to the benefit of ALL parties.

Any word back from the CoV or are they staying tight lipped? I emailed them a while back and they replied within a few hours but didn't really say much other than that they were looking into it etc.

As frustrating as it is for the community, I can't imagine the frustration when you have put so much work into this. Hopefully it will all come good.

Thank you!

Not much from the City. They got a ton of emails which really caught their attention, so that's good.
They said they have a couple options for a path forward but they aren't really moving on any of them yet. They really don't like rocking the boat. Hopefully they're just waiting for the election to be over (this Sat).

The emails to the City helped because it let them know that there's a community behind it, and not just a couple random guys.

We had a jam down there last weekend, which was awesome.
In this clip, almost every single cut is a different rider, and a large age range.
