Greetings!
I just snagged a trail 429. Lets see and talk about them here.

I test rode one today. I am coming off a Kona Process 111 29er so that is my primary basis of comparison.

LOVED the feel of the platform and suspension.

BIKE is smooth and quiet. VERY stable and love the way it handles under braking.

I was on some dry trail. I did have a few spots where I got a little loose. My pressure was pretty low. I wonder about a different tire.

Rode a SJ ST today. Quite a different bike, pedals well and corners well, but I liked the stiffness, lushness, and stability of the 429 Trail.

Could you please elaborate a bit on the comparison with the Kona? I own a 111, and I love it, but I'm wondering if there's a big enough difference between the 111 and similar but newer platforms to justify a new bike. I recently test-rode a Giant Trance 29 and felt like it was a step down compared to my 111 with dialed suspension. Wanted to test-ride a 429 but was unlucky with none available in XL.

Thanks!

big fan of 111 and the value

429 felt similar but enhanced in braking while suspension active, more stable and balanced at speed, and kashima was smooth and plush

429 descends and climbs better overall but more burly and less nimble, 429 has a high quality, efficient, and firm feel

111 accelerates a little bit better in the flats, 111 corners better

2 of the best bikes I have ridden and very close, joys to ride

I am about to buy a 429 Trail...rode some more demos and nothing compares to me, plus XT Kashima build is good value.

Has anyone bumped up their fork to 140mm? Or used a 36 140mm?

DO you think the 27.5 helped with your learning to ride better than the 29r would?

Same here. I purchased the Enduro version of the new 429 and it comes with a 140mm 36.
