After some help please people.

I’m awaiting a dhx2 for a 2018 Capra CF.

I’m trying to figure out the correct spring for my set up. I’m 170lbs with all my gear on, and I know the stroke length is 3”. But I don’t know how firm to get the spring. I rode a Nukeproof mega 275 with a cane creek double barrel before with a 450lb spring. But I know different bikes are varied in the way they deliver.

Does anyone else ride a Capra with a dhx2.. or any other coil that could help?

Try this calculator (use the 4-bar spring rate): https://www.tftuned.com/spring-calculator

Was spot on for my 2016 Capra CF.

I would say that you are between 300lbs and 350 lbs. In theory you should get about 28% sag with 350lbs spring and 32% sag with 300lbs spring.

I used the Cane Creek calculator and it worked fine for me.

I ran a 375lb spring on the dhx2, I weigh 160 and it felt perfect. Did not bottom often, if ever. Way better than the float x2 I had on it

I have a 250x75 with a 375lb spring on a 2018 Al Capra which is way to light for me (215lb rtr)
The spring calculators seem to be on the light side. I'm thinking a 450 or 475lb should do it. Anyone In my weight range have a similar set up and a spring suggestion? Thanks.

This may not be real helpful on a 2018, but FWIW, I got my 8.75 x 2.75 DHX2 direct from Fox several months ago and based on the leverage ratio on the 2015 (more progressive than later models I believe) Capra (they said they had a list of frame metrics on file (?)) they recommended a 450# for me at about 200# FULLY geared up. Seems OK. Maybe a wee bit stiff. I got the cheap spring first to see how it feels for awhile before (or if) I bother with the $uper Light orange one.

If you are changing shock manufacturers, make sure you get the correct reducer bushing kits for your frame. Fox got it half right (based, again, on their 'list') and I had to have a shop install the shock as I had tired of pressing things in and out.......

Thanks for the response. After talking to YT and checking the Capra owners page on FB I went with the 475lb spring. A guy at YT was running a 500lb and he was slightly heavier than me. I got a quick ride on it today and it felt great. That fox spring calculator was pretty far off. Talking to YT or Fox is your best bet to get you pretty close to the spring rate you need IME.

I am on a Capra 29 cf pro . Your weight and I am running a 550 . It suggested 500 but it was too soft .. . I ride rocky stuff bigger hits .. so I can get away with a little stiffer .. I still got 30 percent sag rate just very little pre load ..
