Hey, I wanted to make this Forum for anyone looking to ride MTB in and around Vienna (around Vienna will probably end up including all of Austria as well as the surrounding countries). I'm new to Vienna so I'll start by stating the obvious trails:

Hohe Wand Wiese: http://www.hohewandwiese.com/de/trailcenter Three trails that are accessible by public transport (Get a train to Huttledorf and pedal a short distance, this is the easiest way I can think of.
There are three downhill trails and an uphill climb. The climb takes 15-30 minutes depending on motivation and fitness.
Downhill tracks are graded blue "flow line" red "Kenda line" and black "Enduro line"
Blue and red are similar, large bermed flow trails with tabletops. The red trail has the option of some gap jumps and a drop.
The black "Enduro line" is kind of a natural line cut down the hill with no built up berms. It's not too steep or technical, I think the black rating is just by comparison to the other two trails.

Weidlingbach: http://www.wienerwaldtrails.at/trailpark-weidlingbach-die-fakten/ which has two trails, red and blue. These are both pretty easy looking flow trails, not so easy to access by public transport.

These are both part of this Wiener Wald trails initiative (http://www.wienerwaldtrails.at/ which looks to be gaining some traction, there are also multi user trails in the Wiener Wald (Vienna woods, funny name to me but no one here finds it funny) but I have not checked these out.

Hopefully people can use this forum to share more info about riding around Vienna and in Vienna, I struggled to find much in english and hopefully this will appear in searches.

For a bike park I believe the closest is Semmering: http://semmering.com/en/page/bikepark-semmering about 1.5 hours by car. I haven't visited yet but I'm hoping someone else will chime in.

Further afield there are several bike parks in Styria (Steiermark)
Schladming being one of the most famous https://www.bikepark-schladming.at/en/ I've spent a day here and had a great time, the downhill course is awesome and really challenging in the middle woods section. My arms were destroyed by the braking bumps at the very end of the trails though, just before the gondola haha I rode this on a 160mm trail bike which was plenty bike provided you're not racing.

Nearby to Schladming is Wagrain https://www.snow-space.com/en/Villages/Wagrain/Summer/Bikepark-Wagrain I have not yet ridden here, the website makes it look like one line top to bottom with a couple of choices as you go.

Leogang https://bikepark.saalfelden-leogang.com/en and Saalbach https://www.saalbach.com/en/summer/mountain-biking these resorts can be accessed through each other. Leogang was mostly flow trails with big jumps, Saalbach seemed to be more technical trails which I preferred.

I have struggled to find natural technical and steep trails around Vienna and I think its because they are a well kept secret, land laws make it illegal to mountain bike in many woodland areas unfortunately.

Please feel free to add your experiences and suggestions below!

Add the Schöckl Trail area to your list! It is near Graz, and weather permitting they will operate in winter too.

More natural and the black line is serious harder then expected: many sections with hard steep rocks in the top part of the trail.

I have been there only once, but would really enjoy going back. It is just a bit far from Innsbruck.

Thanks for posting! Perhaps once we have a couple more responses I'll edit the first entry for easier reading! Any other suggestions are welcome!

Some more things to add to your post:

Although Leogang and Saalbach can be accessed through each other: just park/camp/pick hotel on the side you want to do your main riding. Hotels in Saalbach and Hinterglem offer jokercards and guided tours in good value packages. In one day you can do the Big 5 tour, which includes one run on Leogangs Hangman. Although it is possible in one day, I would recommend just to take more time in Saalbach. The runs are quite long and you will get more out of it if you do more then one run just to get to know them and then enjoy them: pre-ride, ride, free-ride!

In Leogang you are allowed to camp with van/car at the lift station and there are toilets and showers. You need to register at the ticket decks.

In Wagrain I did once half a day, and that was to short to really get to know all trails in the bottom sections well. For sure worth to go there for a full day. I am not sure if it allowed to camp there overnight with van, but they do have showers and toilets.

Not really close to Vienna but worth travelling too are the Slovenian parks, I like Slovenia as a holiday location, both cities, smaller towns and nature. I thinks it anyway closer from Vienna than going to the Tirolian Parks:
I haven't been biking in Maribor for years: but they have new management for the bikepark and should be revived. MB is also a nice town. Others are Kranjska Gora and Krvavec. I was in late season there and in Kravec only two runs were open, but especially the black was very nice.

Also fun weekend combo starting from Vienna would be: Bikepark Geisskopf and Spicak.

Anyway good idea this topic. I might set one up later for Innsbruck and Tirol based riding Smile

you should add Slovenia as mentioned before:
Kranjska Gora http://www.bike-park.si/home.html
Krvavec https://www.rtc-krvavec.si/en/activities/summer/bike-park-krvavec
Petzen and Jamnica https://www.bikepark-info.com/bikeparks/at/petzen-trails/(Endruo World Series #4 was hier this year)

All are near Austrian Border or in Austria (Petzen).

Anninger and Lindkogel near Vienna are top areas also, in terms of single trails.

I'm doing my encyclopedia of trails on my youtube channel, check it out if you want!

Also Wexl trails are very popular now!
