Hot water freezes faster.

Only if out in the open -- not within a closed vessel.

I use an insulated water bottle. If I will be out for a while or if it is really cold, I put it (or one of them) in my pack. I sometimes use warm water (hot water freezing faster happens under specific conditions, but not these).

I use a hydration bladder most of the time, but I always end up with a frozen tube when it is much below freezing. I tried the blowing into the tube thing, but it did not take long before I had filled the bladder with air and then it would push the water back through the tube until I opened up the bladder to let the air out.

Buy a couple of those reusable hand warmer packs, they worked great for me!

Don't they make the water taste funny?

I don’t put it inside the hydration pack just next to it

I use stainless steel vacuum sealed coffee cups with warm water and hot skratch labs electrolyte.
