Howdy,

I bought a Soma 650B Steel-Frame hardtail bike off Craigslist one year ago. Great bike, climbs great....BUT...I was riding at Santa Teresa in San Jose when my bike started making some horrible noise. I couldn't figure out what was going on and and kept riding, a pretty long and rocky uphill.

The bike was continuing to complain, especially on the uphill rocky climbs. Finally, it stopped. Well it turns out that the bike must have started cracking and the bike was essentially sawing the bottom pipe in half.

Soma B-Side 650B Steel Hardtail. Bottom Frame cut in half.

So that is my sob story. I have an email into Soma to see if there is a replacement frame available, since I do really like the bike and would like to just switch out components and start over.

If anyone has this model Soma 650B and is selling, I am interested.

Thanks!

Not that I’m a frame builder or engineer background but that huge gusset under downtime headtube junction I believe wouldn’t of helped for the stress point to give at that point.
