just wondering is it possible to break a chain without a chain breaker?
i have ss and the chain has strecthed and i want to shorten it, but i dont have a chain breaker. if there another way?

just use an angle grinder or puit it in a vice and nail the link out

but i want to reuse the same chain wont the angle grinder just wreck the whole chain? Helmet

you can get it apart with a hammer and punch but you will not get it back together well enough to be safe just run out buy a chain breaker and some pins much safer

lol, in Canada you can go to the major hardware store (canadian tire) and buy one for $3. Sure it will break after you use it like 10 times, but it is worth it rather than wreching your chain. I had a $3, broke it, and whent to a park tool, never had a problem since.

The thing about chain breakers is that you really get what you pay for. A cheap chain breaker will make the whole process way harder than it needs to be. A nice expensive chain breaker will make your life so much easier.
