What's that big, hideous fender on the rear? I'd like something like that for my winter hardtail.

That's a Mudhugger. They're ugly AF but work sooo well. Once you ve ridden one you'll never go back to having a soggy ass.

Front is a RRP.

Thanks. I definitely have to order one.

Nerd time:

When arguing the most universal / multiple personality frame it would be criminal not to include the Kona Unit X. Winter set up... large frame, hunt 29 trail wide, Yarik 110, specialized Butcher/Eliminator T-9 grid trails, spank Spoon 60 mil rise 800 mm, Spank Split 38mm stem, 175 RF Affect, wha wha composite, 30/21 ratio, ZEE brakes 160/140, KS 190 dropper, chromag trailmaster butt thing... dassaboutit.

Always impressed with the Unit and how many ways it can be built up. From fully rigid to 140 is how I have run them but really liking it at 110 travel SS. Super quiet, nice BB hight for limited strikes and its quit playful with how much weight is dropped off. Hunt is on point so far, for a sub 400$ purchase they are light, easily rubberized and damn decent engagement for the price.

I don't care about versatility, but you got one interesting brake setup!

What's your reasoning behind the 160/140mm rotors?

I am planning to go 160/160 with a set of Saint brakes on my TR TransAm, just to forego the use of a brake adapter on the fork.
I was of the impression 140mm rotors are for juveniles only Joker

lol just what I had lying around and turns out with the ZEEs its just fine. Realistically its a slower paced ride than say the chromag

Ster - that's one tasty looking Unit.

It seems Kona have taken the OG Surly Krampus (which I have and is a great bike) and given the geo a good old kick up the ass (which the Krampus needed). Definitely a keeper of a bike.
