Hi,

Today I think I nearly got a bad crash due to my short getting stuck into my saddle. Long story short, On a gnarly section of multiple drops, When I shifted my weight backward something blocked me and the surprise made me slip the feet off the pedals. I landed on the seat and the bike long travel saved me while it was rolling over the last rocks of the section. My short got a nice butt hole now.

I was wondering, my previous saddle is a WTB Volt and have some kind of leather material which seems have less friction on fabric than my current saddle; Specialized Toupe, which kind of a rubber material.
Is saddle material friction important for the rider so the cloth slide better on it, or is it better to have good grip?
I don't want to go Lycra, I'm now looking for non baggy short (that can accommodate body armor), any suggestion are welcome.

Wow. Are you saying your saddle caused the rip in your shorts?
