Currently have a 5010v3c R. Out of curiosity, if I love the 5010 as a trail ripper, how would a 2019 Transition Scout Alloy NX compare? I have also heard that the 2019 Patrol is a ripper as well, and it carries its 170/160 of travel really well. I can demo a shop owners carbon Patrol, but not the Scout..

I have a patrol and it does carry its size and travel well BUT I can't recommend it for a do it all bike UNLESS you go carbon. The alloy patrol is a dog im sorry. The carbon one isnt amazing going up either but you can feel that extra 1.2 lbs or whatever it is. Transition bikes in general are just heavy and beefy. I think the carbon 29ers are still north of 32lbs.

thank you for your insight. I'll be honest, the 5010 NX build even with the carbon frame, is pretty heavy. Heavier than I thought it would be anyway.

I went from a 5010 v2 to a Ripmo and haven't looked back once. The Ripmo does everything as good or better... Uphill, downhill, popping off stuff. And it is way faster.

Despite the fact that the alloy Scout is a heavy frame, I loved it. Mine was around 34lbs, but when switching bikes with friends that owned lighter bikes, I still preferred the scout. Only selling it because I am going with a longer travel Banshee.
