My LBS has a 2018 model in my size marked down from $5100 to $2900. Obviously the downside is I can't ride it first. This is Northern Utah so lots of big climbs followed by long descents. I can't find many reviews on this bike.

This is around the price range I was looking at so how does it compare to other bikes in the same range (Stumpjumper, Fuel EX, YT/Canyon offerings)?

Bike Mag featured the redpoint in their 2017 bible of bike tests. It received favorable reviews. From the review, the geometry may be on the conservative side for a 150mm travel bike. Salsa is an adventure bike company so they probably prioritize comfort for all-day rides over varied terrain as opposed to a bike for one specific task. I think the redpoint would be a solid trail bike.
