Stanchions collecting dust after service

I serviced the lowers on my fox 36 recently. Oil, foam rings, dust wipers. I greased the inside of the dust wipers as a video instructed. After everything was done and given some compressions I cleaned them up with a rag and rubbing alcohol.

Now it’s like there’s an extra film of grease on the stanchions that collects dust, it’s obviously from the fresh oil/grease in there. this was definitely not happening before and they weren’t exactly desperate for a service. Maybe it will fade in time as the grease gets pushed around in there and they aren’t sliding through a fresh ring of grease with every compression?

just wondering if this is typical?

Did you use slickoleum/slick honey for the grease?

Yes, slick honey

It is fine then. Just wipe the extra off after riding and it will stop doing that in a few rides

You want that to happen. That film of oil that collects dust means it's properly lubicated.

When I notice them dry that means it's time for a lowers service.
