Capra AL Comp 29

MEGA 290 Comp

META AM 29 essential(Fox or RS?)

Most reliable components?
Flat Pedal performance(+/-)?
Descending performance(+/-)?

I want descending performance, climbing not important but flat sprinting is, so which bike?

The Capra has by far the best equipement, with the GRIP2 36, X2, Code RS, XT with TRS cassette, TRS wheels. E13 dropper is shit tho (reliability wise it's awful). And good luck to get one.

The Mega 290 Comp is quite lackluster in that department, Yari, Super Deluxe without shock lock, Guide T brakes,... The 290 Pro, which is a little more than 3k, is really nice tho.

The Meta 29 AM is between the two, really not a fan of the Guide T/SLX brakes.

All of them are good bikes, with relatively close geometries, good rear end. Very good descenders, and ok climbers. I would get the Capra if you can. If not, the Mega 290 Pro. Then the Commencal, Fox one with brakes swap (for MT5s probably). Then the Mega 290 Comp, which is really weak in the equipement department.

I'm in the exact same boat. Replacing a Canfield Riot deciding between these three. Need something bigger/longer. I have to wait until off season, so I might be stuck with whoever has XL/XXL sizes left. Ha ha.
