I am installing you head to my frame, and I was just wondering, how do you know when to stop pressing? If you go too far what will be damaged first the headset cup or the frame? Just wanted to know as I kept turning it even though it was apparently fully seated, and was curious that this will damage the frame. I thought I would feel a stop, but I never did

The old adage "tighten till you hear a crack, then back if off a quarter turn" sounds about right for this situation.

But seriously, you should tighten till the lip on the cup comes into contact with the frame, then probably go another quarter to half turn to ensure its fully seated. The mechanical advantage of your press means it is possible to damage your head tube if you go crazy on it, but its unlikely that you would've done this on accident.

The press I was using was homemade and that's why I was worried, but I've ridden the bike since and all seems to be ok
