Ended up with a Banshee titan. Probably gonna get rid of the shock.
Anyone interested in a 205x65 2021-updated X2 performance?:

Here is carbon down tube protection but it is for alu frame. No Idea if it fits to advanced:

There is version for Advanced frame. I have one on my bike.
Of course, purchased just after first big hit that chipped the paint from BB area Rolleyes

For anyone having issues with harshness using the Float X2 Performance I've done some poking around the shock. If you're willing to remove your compression adjuster assembly you can adjust the HSC by removing shims internally.

I found that on the performance version the HSC is preloaded by 6 shims under the poppet spring. You can remove the compression adjuster assembly with a 15mm (I believe) socket and pull out the assembly to access them.

I removed 3 of the 6 preload shims and sensitivity improved a ton. Unfortunately I blew up the stock rear hub on the test ride so waiting on a replacement hub before I test it more, but I will probably try it with all shims removed just to see as well.

Hey all,

Just bought a 2020 Reign 29 aluminum. After reading this post it sounds like I can fit this shock @ 205x65 Trunnion with no issues/modifications?

Correct. No issues and no mounting hardware needed. Maybe check to see if they offer different valving options before purchasing.

Cool thanks !!

Is there a Reign specific valve I should inquire about?

Nothing reign specific. Reign takes middle of the road valving. Just make sure you’re not buying something specifically valved for a different bike I’d say. Most things ship middle of the road from the factory but always good to double check before dropping a bunch of money on a shock only to have to pay more to get it revalved.

Right on thanks Diegosk

I’m building up a frame using a kit from my current 27.5+ 2.8 tire Hardtail. Two Q’s for anyone here:

1. Anyone fitted 27.5x2.8 tires? Any issues ?

2. I’d like to swap my current race face aeffecf cinch cranks which take a 24mm exi bottom bracket. I know the reign comes with the 28.99 DUB bottom bracket stock. Can I switch the bottom bracket to accept my cranks?

Hi,

I have this shock on my aluminium reign 29 frame and it works perfect, no problem with 65mm stroke and 158mm travell, plenty of adjustability options with negative and positive chamber rings and piggy back pressure.

Not sure about your crank but I have repleaced sram dub bb with shimano pressfit one and it works fine.

So is the minor consensus on this forum is that a 65mm stroke works without issues on Large and XL frames ? I thought someone said it caused massive damage to their frame but now I can’t find it. I have the 2021 advanced carbon frame in a large size and I want to switch to a 62.5 mm stroke so I’m hoping that will be plenty safe..??

I've been running a 62.5mm stroke shock on my medium advanced frame for a year now and have had zero issues. Had plenty of bottom outs too. There's still a decent gap between the seat tube and the upper rocker brace under full compression.

Confirmed you can run the 2020 reign 29 frame in 27.5X2.8 setup! Plenty of clearance on the rear triangle
