Christchurch to Queenstown Roadtrip

Question for NZ locals or people with a bit of experience riding around the South Island. Keen to fly into Christchurch and travel to Queenstown for some bike park riding but hoping to do some trail riding along the way.

Wanted some tips for places to ride around Christchurch and along the way to Queenstown? Is it better to try fit 4 guys into a RV and have the freedom to go/stay wherever we want or better to rent a Ute (to fit bikes) and stay at hotels/airbnb’s along the way? Is this a even a good idea or should we just do 10 days in Queenstown for bikepark riding and ride around the greater Queenstown area?

Maybe some slight detours required. Wanaka, Alexandra and Craigieburn all have some awesome riding.

Christchurch adventure park, has lift and plenty of trails. 4 New ones opening next week. Port hills in chch has plenty of riding as well.
