Right now, CRC has the Vitus Dominer for $2100 and the Nukeproof Dissent Comp (275) for $3499. After looking through their specs, is the Nukeproof worth the extra $1399? Is there any DH bike (new) that rivals the Dominer in value at its current price?

The Dominer is quite a fun bike. Those both share suspension but the Dissent has adjustable wheelbase. 3 position I think. I have ridden a Dominer and it is a really fun bike. Plenty of grip and carries speed really well. Jumps nicely too. You get a lot for your money and you can spend some extra on wheels down the line. There is a review online that just dropped that compares these two bikes.
My money would be on the Dominer, that price you could swing and still have another decent am rig.

Buy my new dissent frame for a bargain price instead But I have actually owned a 2018 pulse factory and a 2018 dominer. I preferred the more progressive feel of the dominer. But they replaced the dominer with the pulse factory because the dominer welding was so bad it was wearing down the shock. Then the 2018 pulse frame cracked and they replaced that with a dissent frame. But just bought a 2019 dominer and will load it with fox and shimano goodness.

Right on, I ended up getting a Dominer. For under $2000, it was hard to pass up. My current AM/Enduro rig is an Evil Insurgent I just finished building after cracking the frame of my last enduro bike in a crash (Vitus Sommet).

Depends on your wallet and personal preferences.
My personal preference upgrades on the Vitus would be: 1. Fork first, I don't like Rockshox Boxxer's, I am a Fox40 rider. I don't like the flex in the Boxxer's. 2. Dump the crap brakes called SRAM Guides. SRAM makes horrible brakes, I don't like the feel, lots of maintenance. Shimano Saints M820 brakes all the way.

So down the line, what is there to look out for in the Dominer reliability ref the frame and rear suspension? I had a 206/17 grey/orange frame. Never used it enough to smoke it. Never crashed a lot on it either, very safe bike. Was more fun than the Sender Cf8 that followed. Though the grip on the sender is really good I just found it numb. Not saying it was bad, just different and more racey.

The welding all around the pivot and shock area. Look for rubbing against the shock. It was sanding the shock down around the lower bushings.
