Hello all,

I am looking into getting a Santa Cruz Chameleon in the 27.5+. I am also considering doing a build with mullet wheel setup. I am looking for info and ideas if it’s worth it or not. Carbon or aluminum?

I have put together two mullet bikes. One hardtail and one FS. Are we talking 27.5 or 27.5+? I don't think putting a 27.5+ on the back counts as a real mullet.
If you put a standard 27.5 on the back it will drop your rear axle 20mm and given your current BB drop of 55, I doubt it would be too low. I have a 27.5 hardtail with a 50mm drop which would be just 5mm higher than your mullet. If you increased your fork by 10mm and did the mullet the BB height would stay the same.
The main issue I see with mulleting your SC would be the STA, which would end up at 71.8 degrees, with sag it would drop to almost 73 - not bad but not amazing. At the end of the day, I think I'd have more fun on it as a mullet, but it wouldn't be for everyone.
